Privacy Policy

Information we collect

None. Project Haystack LLC does not collect, receive, store, or process any personal information through its apps. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, location, contacts, photos, or device identifiers, and the apps do not read them.

There are no user accounts and no logins. There is nothing to sign up for.

The apps work offline

Our apps are designed to work fully offline. They do not require a network connection to function and do not send your activity anywhere. Because there is no server on our side, there is no place for your data to go.

What is stored on your device

The apps save a small amount of information locally on your iPhone so that they are useful between sessions:

• Your game settings and preferences.
• Your hand history and practice statistics.

This information stays on your device. It is not uploaded, backed up to us, or visible to us. If your iPhone is set to back up to iCloud, Apple's normal device backup may include it, under Apple's privacy policy rather than this one. Deleting the app removes the data it stored on your device.

Exporting or sharing your hand history

Some of our apps let you export or share your hand history. This only ever happens when you start it yourself, by tapping a share or export control. The app then hands the file to the standard iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes — Mail, Files, Messages, or anywhere else you pick.

Project Haystack LLC does not receive a copy and never sees the exported data. Once you hand it to another app or service, that app's or service's own privacy policy applies.

No analytics, advertising, or tracking

The apps contain no analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising networks, no attribution or marketing SDKs, and no third-party trackers. We do not track you across apps or websites, and the apps do not ask for permission to do so, because there is nothing to track.

No selling or sharing of data

We do not sell, rent, trade, or share personal information — because we do not have any. There is no data to disclose to advertisers, data brokers, or any other third party. Under the California Consumer Privacy Act, we do not sell or share personal information, and we have not done so in the past twelve months.

App Store distribution

Our apps are distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple collects its own information about downloads and purchases as the distributor, and provides us with anonymous aggregate reports such as download counts. We never receive information that identifies an individual user. Apple's handling of that information is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

Children's privacy

Our apps collect no personal information from anyone, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and there is no mechanism in our apps by which a child — or an adult — could send us personal information. The apps contain no advertising, no in-app purchases, no links out to social networks, and no real-money gambling of any kind.

If you believe a child has somehow sent us personal information, please email us and we will delete it.

This website

findtheneedle.org is a plain static website. It sets no cookies, runs no JavaScript, and loads no third-party fonts, scripts, analytics, or embeds. Nothing on these pages tracks you.

The site is hosted on GitHub Pages. Like any web host, GitHub processes standard server request information, such as your IP address, in order to deliver the page to you. See the GitHub Privacy Statement for how GitHub handles that. Project Haystack LLC does not have access to server logs or visitor analytics for this site.

Your rights

Privacy laws such as the CCPA and the GDPR give you rights to access, correct, or delete the personal information a company holds about you. We hold none, so there is nothing for us to return or erase. The data the apps create stays on your iPhone and is entirely under your control: you can clear it in the app, or delete the app to remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will post the updated version on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a future app ever collects anything, we will say so here clearly and in advance of that app's release, rather than quietly broadening this page. Past versions are visible in this site's public source history.
